First of all, is this your whole budget for the computer, including 
editing software, or hardware only.  Need to include monitors in that 
amount as well?  That all makes a difference on what you can really 
afford.  Get something as fast as you can afford with at least 1 GB 
Ram.  Shop around for computers in you price range.  Go to Dell.com, 
(stick with the business lines!) or other maker and see what's 
available.  With that modest budget, a screaming graphics card is not a 
good idea, save money there with a budget model, and put more into the 
CPU.  SATA Hard drives are best, and you want at least 2.  I'd say 3, if 
possible, one for the OS, 2 for video, better make 'em big (200 GB+).  
You'll need a capture card as well.  With that budget, you'll need to 
stick with plain Firewire, which may be included on the motherboard.  
Look around, and when you find something you think may work, post the 
link or specs back to the list, and we can give you a yea or nay.
