Howdy!

Up until now, I've been working with 720x480 at 30i. basic video.

However, one of the projects I have coming in is a hand-drawn animated piece
(about three minutes). There will be a little computer animation, and some
panning across static artwork, but basically, it's all just art.

Now...

I've been encouraged by a local festival chairman to try and do this as a 24-p
widescreen hi-def production.

So, I did a little homework. The animators I have little doubt will be happy
drawing only 24 frames per second instead of 30. My understanding is that
hi-def is 1080 x 1920, which is just a matter of scanning the art boards at the
higher resolution. And I THINK I can
set my frame rate for whatever.

Here's the rub (I think):

I have After Effects 5.5 Production Bundle, Adobe Premiere 6.5, and Photoshop
5.5

What would you recommend is the best workpath for incoming art (everything will
probably be scanned in Photoshop). I'm a little unsure if my version of
Photoshop will allow me to change out of square pixels, for example.

Is it possible to produce what he's asking for using these tools?

I've been avoiding upgrading because I've been working on a huge feature
project and I'd rather not upgrade tools in the middle of a big project, but if
I MUST upgrade, then, well, I'll eat that biscuit if it comes my way.

Ideas? Suggestions? Can I do it with the tools I have, or do I need something
else? Do I seem to even UNDERSTAND what's being asked of me?

Cheers,

Edward
