My company does this. I also transfer 8mm film with

Video 8mm is really easy to convert and you do this yourself if you still
have the older camcorder.
Simply hook it up to your current miniDV camera (which I assume you have
since you are on this group:) and use "AV Digital Passthroug" without a
miniDV cassette in the camera. You simply hook up your 8mm Video camcorder
via composite and voilã.
Record it into Premiere and your done. This is the way we, and probably
everybody else right now does it.
