If the original isn't Hi-8 then you won't get
exceptional quality. Does your old camcorder have
S-Video out? If so and your DV camera has S-Video in,
that'll get you the best possible quality- unless your
DV camera's ADC isn't a good one.

There are external "pods" that connect to USB2 or
Firewire for digitizing analog video. Some work with
AP, some only work with the crappy software they ship with.
