You can do that. See the thread about DVD rippers. You'll want to record at the highest quality setting to DVD. Using rewriteable DVDs will save some money. If your combo can use dual layer DVD+R, that will get you more recording time at best quality, but unfortunately there's no such thing as a rewriteable dual layer DVD disc. The best price I've found for DL blanks is at geeks.com on a spindle of 30. But if it can only handle single layer, stick with RW discs and use them like tapes. (That's what I do with my SV-2000.) This is one thing where I really really wish Wal*Mart would use its market driving muscle to order a few billion of the things to force the price down to sane levels! Every DVD burner sold for computers for the last 3 or 4 years is dual-format, dual layer, yet NOBODY stocks the dual layer discs on their shelves except in grossly overpriced 3-packs or spindles of 15 or 20 or rarely 25. Staples once had a "sale" on spindles of 20 DVD+R DL, dropping the price to 'only' $40+ from their regular price of $65. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
