PP CS5 can work with AVCHD without conversion or even rendering if you opt
for a supported CUDA (NVIDIA) graphics card. Its worth the upgrade if you
are on a previous version.

Note: The demo of PP CS5 doesn't have the MPEG4 codecs, therefore it will
not edit many HD formats, just R3D (RED) I believe.

Subject: [AP] First Panasonic AF100/101 footage

http://vimeo.com/15765280

This is the upcoming Panasonic AF100 which uses a DSLR like sensor to
achieve smaller DOF and better image. It records in AVCHD onto SD
card media but also has a direct 100mb SDI output for recording to
external media. I love this footage and placed a pre-order for this
camcorder. The cheaper but comparable GH2 will be released in November.

Is Premiere capable of editing AVCHD directly?
