Before I spend money on a new graphics card or computer I decided to try
converting my AVCHD files with Cineform.
To find out how it works I downloaded the trial version.
The picture quality of the converted files looks very good but when I import
the clips into CS5 the sound is totally distorted.
The sound is perfect when played in Windows Media Player , although I had
to download a patch/codec first before it played the sound at all.
I had the same problem when I imported clips taken with the Sony NX5
with sound
recorded in Linear PCM into CS4 but that has been fixed in CS5.
I could replace the sound of the converted clips with that of the
original clips but
that is a fair amount of extra work.
If that can not be fixed I would not go for Cineform as it is rather
expensive (in my mind).
$129 is about the third of a medium CUDA card.
Any thoughts or solutions?
