Lee,

I am primarily an amateur and a pensioner who is only doing odd jobs -
mainly to finance my hobby. I spent a biggish amount on the Sony NX5 and CS5
last year.
My present computer is not powerful enough to smoothly handle AVCHD but
I do
not want to spend more money right now for another computer.
I first thought I would get another graphics card for my present
computer but am not
sure whether that alone would help, as we discussed recently.
As an interim solution (until I get a "nice" job) I thought I will
convert the files.

Cineform converts files to AVI probably similar to Lagarith which I used
with CS4 but CS5
does not show it as option after it has been installed. Like Lagarith,
Cineform is supposed to
be lossless, and as I wrote the picture quality looks very good and my
vintage computer
handles it nicely.

I am sure the sound problem is Premiere related although Cineform write
that it works with CS5
