I just bought a new 37" Vizio LCD. Most shows look great but the trend these
days for night scenes and dark indoor places seems to be for extra realism, ie
make them really dark. Memphis Beat was that way, Hawaii Five-0 has plenty of
extra dark scenes, so did Chase. Same deal with V. Yeah, I get that the 5th
Column hides out in a dark basement, but does it have to be *that dark*?

When I miss an episode I download it to my HTPC, those are often darker than
the original broadcasts.

Used to be they did night scenes just by sticking a filter on the lens so it
looked like a cloudless full moon night, often brighter than that - was so
obvious it was just a dark filter. The current trend is too dark, fiddling with
the picture settings doesn't help much.
