I use FCP at the moment and I can tell you that many current FCP (and
Avid) users are very positive about the current version of Premiere
and considering making the move. There's speculation that the next
version of FCP won't be a "pro" version anymore but rather aiming for
the prosumer. I don't know if these rumors are true of course.
I don't have problems with FCP stability though, everything works
perfectly for me, it allows me to do what I need to do, on a
MacBookPro 17" with external FW800 drives. The only but I've found
was when rendering multi layers of video using masks with a cross
dissolve between two masks. The rendered output wasn't right so I had
to delete render and render again, then it was correct.
