"I did google it before commenting and "AFAIK Windows" did not give me
a useful answer."

Wow. Er, you used "http://www.google.com/"; right? 'Cause I just (out
of curiosity) typed in that exact phrase and the first six PAGES of
results had it. Heck, if I were new, I'd think it WAS some form of
Windows that I'd never heard of, it was so ubiquitous.

"One should not have to google a term if people are communicating properly."

One disagrees. One enjoys the simplicity of Google, and the speed at
which one can acquire information quickly. One is confused slightly
by the sentiment that one is expected to magically possess all of this
information WITHOUT searching, as if one is supposed to have been born
with everything one needed. One thinks that's a very silly notion.

"Using acronyms is never considered proper communication, as they can
be construed to have many meanings, and often do."

One disagrees, both with sentiment and the use of the word "never."

For example, one often refers to one's installation of Win XP's
Premiere CS3 to cut SCUBA footage ASAP because one's client f'ed
around and delivered it late, only allowing three days of post.

One expects this to make sense, despite the presence of 4 acronyms,
one contraction, and two industry terms.

"If you have something to say, spell it out so that there is no confusion..."

Many ones have done so and stored this valuable information in a form
that Google can unlock.

One also notes that the question "What is AFAIK Windows?" was, in
fact, answered.

Cheers,

Edward
