No need to switch to a Mac unless you have a compelling reason to do so.
There are a lot of Mac religionists out there, but when you become competent
with them both, it will gradually dawn on you that the Mac OS merely does a
few similar things in a slightly different way. In addition, Adobe software
has a high % of sameness between the two OS's (but because of the OS, there
are differences).

Regarding Intel processors, there is a certain amount of overlap between the
various models of i5 and i7 - one can't just say i5 or i7 without
identifying specific models. However, I think only one i5 model performs
hyper-threading, a feature you will definitely want, whereas all the i7
9xx's have it (the i7-8xx's do not). Also most i7's have larger cache's. Of
course, the price varies wildly between models.

A PC allows you superior hardware configuration options, and for video
editing you might be most successful using a fast hyper-threaded quad (or
hex) processor, three HD's, 12GB or 16GB memory, and an NVidia graphics card
with sufficient memory so its CUDA cores can be used by Premiere and After
Effects.

Morning!

Okay thanks for this information. I will see what I can put together. I was
able to stabilize the laptop I'm using right now to buy me some time but I
do want to take advantage of current sales going on.

So ... here's something I just thought of. Should I consider getting into a
Mac instead? I've never used one but figure now would be the time to make
the switch.

Sorry to go totally off in another direction.

Thanks!
