I edit on a Mac as well and agree with you. PC/Windows are capable of
doing the same things as Apples, if not more things against lower
prices because Mac is expensive, but the advantage of Mac is that you
won't have any compatibility problem; a Mac is a Mac and the specs of
hard- and software and requirements are simple. It will work on a
certain Mac model or not. When still editing on PCs I spent days on
installing software, configuration, trying to fix bugs, etc. When
moving to a Mac I was editing videos most of the time apart from the
few weeks in which I struggled to get Premiere working on a G4, which
was the reason for me to move to Final Cut Pro.

Then on the other hand; some in here report good results on brand PCs
like Dell, so one could buy that same model of Dell (or other brand)
instead of using a custom built PC, install Premiere on it, and get going.

Relatively, PCs are cheaper. You can built a PC with specs similar to
a Mac Pro but it will me much cheaper. And let's not forget, Macs now
use Intel chips as well. So the differences aren't that big anymore.
I agree with you though on the quality components and testing but if
a PC with state of the art components doesn't perform well, it's
probably not a matter of low quality components, but a matter of
things not being configured properly; drivers missing, etc.

My next editing machine is definitely going to be a PC.
