You expressed an interest in switching to Mac. I have to work on both platforms. Truthfully you can work very well on both; however, I prefer Mac. Some Window machines are not very well put together by the hardware vender. I have a Windows desktop with an 2.9 ghz i7 with 6 GB of RAM and it's a dog. I'm sure that I could find a similarly equipped Windows machine by another vendor and it would work great. The Macs use good quality components and they make sure they work well before they ship them. You can edit video on both laptops and desktops from either Mac or PC; however, I edit a lot of long projects (1-4 hours in HD). A desktop workstation like a Mac Pro is not absolutely necessary but I really appreciate the power, flexibility, and reliability. Gerry
