I think its a monitor 'thing'. Don't expect anything to rightly display
unless its 'native' at that resolution. You are most likely looking at an
upgrade.

We started with 'square' monitors, they gave us quite a lot for their
'size', most were CRT room warmers, but they did display *most* things
correctly for the hardware back then.
They then released loads of LCD monitors onto us that were not-quite-right
for true HD, like the 1050's, the 1200's and various others that couldn't
and wouldn't adapt to 1080 when needed.
Then, all of a sudden, true 1080 ones started to appear. Wow, they were
small! Or were they?
Well, obviously they had to do the job as stated on the tin.

So, from a 19" old square monitor I upgraded to a 22" 'Widescreen', just so
I could keep the monitor height the same in physical dimensions, as we were
ripped off if we bought a 19" Widescreen as it was less surface area to
look at, effectively. Now I buy a 24" HD 1080 monitor to try and keep that
same screen height, and its slightly less than the 22" one here. Its
wider, yes, but are we getting value for money? I doubt it.

We seem to be getting wider and wider over the years, but wait until the
R3D or 2K/4K video starts becoming available, I wonder what width that's
gonna be when its finally released to the public en mass?

Cheers,

Neil.
