In theory I shouldn't: I've got a monitor that's 1920x1200, more than
large enough to display video of 1920x1080. VLC Media player, for
example, plays back 1920x1080 video at full resolution on the monitor
because it offers full-screen mode that gets rid of window borders.
Premiere doesn't seem to have anything equivalent, which is too bad
because I think it's something most people would like to use.

I hear you, though, about computer monitors sometimes giving less as
they progress. I'm sad to see the 1920x1200 monitor giving way to
"HD" monitors that are 1920x1080. Yup, they exactly match the 1080p
HD broadcast standard, but they did away with 120 pixels of height
that are quite useful when viewing documents and doing other standard
computer work. It's almost impossible these days to get a laptop with
a 1920x1200 monitor; they used to be commonplace.

Still looking for full res in Premiere,

Mike Boom
