Alexandra,
Do you have the latest update (6.0.5) installed? If not do so. Just
remember that you
have to activate CUDA again after the installation if you are using it.
If you don't come right send me a very short clip (1 sec) and I will
check whether it works
on my machine.

Just an update -
I tried a new project but still cannot import the mov files. Uwe, you
asked how I am getting them from the camera. This is a very simple
camera which records to micro SD card. There is no transfer software
like with a Sony HD camera or other cameras. So I just copy the files
from the card.
Still, if I can open them in Premiere 5.5 I should be able to open
them in 6. I guess I will have to work in 5.5 a little longer. Well
CS6 is the last version I will buy if Adobe persists in
subscription-only versions, so this will drag out the anticipation of
my "new" CS6 upgrade.
