With regard to what will work with EMC Connectrix etc, you can check with
EMC. They have a document that is considered an authority on who is tried,
tested and part of the EMC family, and who is not. Even if your combination
is not supported you can make a request for qualification, and they might
already have results from that combo in which they will support your
configuration with some stipulations.

Not enough description to answer the question.

ESS is a disk subsystem.

Are you comparing it to EMC disk or to Connectrix.

I do not know if you can hook a ESS to a Connectrix. I know they were
supposed to go open with Connectrix, but have not looked lately.

As far as SAN TDPs there are some current combination restrictions that are
supposed to all be lifted with V5.1.

TDP for SAP R/3 and Oracle support the following combinations of Timefinder
and FlashCopy:

ESS and AIX (FlashCopy)
EMC Symmetrix and Solaris (TimeFinder)

But not EMC Symmetrix/AIX and ESS/Solaris

Netbackup only supports EMC/Symmetrix.

>From a raw SAN point of view TSM does not directly interface with the SAN in
these environments this is a Fiber Channel SCSI Disk issue. Now, if you are
talking about Fibre Channel Magstar then the game changes and TSM is
involved in making the Tape Sharing work.

Hi:

Does anyone know of any TSM or tivoli related software features that are
supported on ESS but not supported on EMC SAN?
