Flashcopy is NOT a Tivoli product. It is a feature of the ESS. There are TDP agents for both ESS using Flashcopy and EMC using TimeFinder, but only in support of Oracle. But scripting some flashcopy tasks to create copy LUNs and bring them online to your backup server wouldn't be too hard to do. On NT and AIX, there is a command line interface for Flashcopy. I'm not sure what's available for EMC. You could probably script the TimeFinder operations for EMC in much the same way.

ESS is a disk subsystem. Are you comparing it to EMC disk or to Connectrix. I do not know if you can hook a ESS to a Connectrix. I know they were supposed to go open with Connectrix, but have not looked lately. As far as SAN TDPs there are some current combination restrictions that are supposed to all be lifted with V5.1. TDP for SAP R/3 and Oracle support the following combinations of Timefinder and FlashCopy: ESS and AIX (FlashCopy) EMC Symmetrix and Solaris (TimeFinder) But not EMC Symmetrix/AIX and ESS/Solaris Netbackup only supports EMC/Symmetrix. >From a raw SAN point of view TSM does not directly interface with the SAN in these environments this is a Fiber Channel SCSI Disk issue.
