Thank you d=for the info. If I can add an pleasant experience we had with upgrading from 4.1.6 to the D/L Maint pack of 5.1.7 from the TSM FTP site.
The point here is that in the readme (pasted below) is that we actually saw Significant upgrade db performance. Example before 5.1.7 we upgraded an H80 with 88GB DB and it took 8hrs. On our other H80 with 100GB db it took 4hours!!! Amazing! Once you do the update you then have to put the 5.1 base cd in and only install the lic pack as mentioned below. ********************************************************************************* * $$7 AIX Installation considerations * ********************************************************************************* This maintenance level introduces improvements in the performance of the upgradedb command. For this change it was decided to designate 5.1.7.0 as a new "base" for Tivoli Storage Manager Version 5.1 for AIX. Current V5.1 customers who have been applying prior service (patches or ptfs) without committing will find that the product will be committed at the 5.1.7.0 level. Customers migrating from a prior release of Tivoli Storage Manager MUST 1. First download and install 5.1.7.0 (Not 5.1.0.0 or 5.1.5.0) 2. Then install license enablement and license certificates from your product CD. New customers can install from CD then upgrade to 5.1.7 or use the same scheme as customers migrating. That is, install 5.1.7 immediately then install license enablement from CD. ftp://service.software.ibm.com/storage/tivoli-storage-management/maintenance/server/v5r1/AIX/5.1.7.0/ -----Original Message----- From: Pothula S Paparao [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Wednesday, November 19, 2003 3:57 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: Step Upgrade TSM 4.2.1 to v5.1 Hi , I Hav upgraded 4.2.1 to 5.1.7.3 latest without any problem. Here is the upgrade plan , i have executed perfectly. Make sure that u hav right db backup before u start the change.
