Does someone have a procedure or pointer to one that would allow me to set up a procedure for managing Out of the Library tapes for a local tape pool?
Yes, I know, 'Just Buy a Bigger/Additional Library and go on with life.' This is not an option right now. We have a IBM3583/L18 that is expanded fully (now has 12 slot door, 60 slots internally, and 6 drives. And I have run out of space to keep my local tape pool tapes and need to remove some, but I need to know how to MANAGE these tapes, how to see if tapes need to be put in, how to choose which tapes to remove and what to put in, etc, etc. Suggestions, pointers, sympathy, hardware, documentation, etc are all appreciated. (I requsted a 3284 be put in the budget for next year, but my boss did not even submit it to his management.) ... TIA, JC BTW...
