From: Coats, Jack [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] >Does someone have a procedure or pointer to one that would allow me to set up a procedure for managing Out of the Library tapes for a local tape pool?
<snippety-doo-dah> BTW... Using TSM 4.2.3.1 on Win2KServer, with NT clients on 5.2.0.1, 5.1.6.0 and 5.1.1.0 and Novell 4.11 clients on TSM 4.2.2.0< No procedures per se here, but there are two things you can do that should free up some space. 1. Upgrade your TSM server to 4.2.3.4 (available at ftp://service.boulder.ibm.com/storage/tivoli-storage-management/patches/server /NT/4.2.3.4/) and run CLEANUP BACKUPGROUPS. Then upgrade to whatever version of 5.1 or 5.2 you want. 2. Cut down on the number of versions of files you're keeping. When your users squawk, tell them that "the amount of data being backed up outstrips your library resources" (and emphasize this) "***AT THIS TIME***." Somebody will get the hint. It's amazing how pliant management can become when *their* bosses start bitching. You can also refuse to accept any additional clients for backups until the library situation changes. -- Mark Stapleton ([EMAIL PROTECTED])
