Your Self can't be fooled. But the mind can. Especially when left to
its own devices. That is where a living teacher is required. Otherwise
the mind will imagine so many things and take them to be true. Only
one with correct understanding can give correct understanding. The
mind does not have the capaacity to go beyond itself without proper
guidance.
