I checked all the assemblies found in the service's manifest and all the versions in the GAC matched my needs. I am going to try to remove it from the registry. Thanks for all these suggestions.

I've seen people have problems doing that. If nothing else works, you could try InstallUtil to do the uninstall or the 'sc' command from the command line (http://www.ss64.com/nt/sc.html).
