I don't have C++ installed, and it completed pretty quick on both my desktop and my notebook.

I have C++ installed, and indeed it takes a decade to complete. I don't think the # of files has anything to do with it, as the copying of the files takes less than 10 minutes, it's the gathering information stage which just sits there for 35-40 minutes without any diskactivity and 100% cpu usage.
