How are women who work professionally supposed to deal with having booth
babes on one side and themselves on another? Meritocracy or not, it leaves
lingering confusion as to how all the men you deal with view you.
We are pelted with messages from every form of media these days that a
good woman is a good looking woman...wouldn't it be nice to break from the
same old tired message even if we know there is seemingly no escape from
it?

I recall that an Asian Perl conference was attended by equal amounts of
men and women yet the female attendance at TPC has declined every year
since its inception. I would gather that there are many factors at work in
this simple representation of information, but it makes one wonder why.

I'd really like to see more women at the conferences and into Perl in
general, but behaving like Grod the caveman isn't fetching no matter how
sexy your compiler.
