If the module already exists, I think this can be generalized to
contacting the module author if you want specific modifications made
in a certain timeframe. If the module author doesn't have the time to
put toward it, he/she probably knows someone who does. 

I know SPOPS is getting LDAP support for precisely this reason: money
has a tendency to shift priorities. And I see this as a Good Thing --
Elaine mentioned earlier that there's a danger of priorities getting
shifted away from the 'core' with this sort of sponsorship. This may
be so, but I think most module authors have sufficient hubris to
prevent this sort of corruption from happening. And I feel (or maybe
hope) that companies enlightened enough to use this sort of
arrangement wouldn't try to do such a thing.
