I used to work for a foundation. It is not rare enough to be uncommon as
philanthropy isn't really all that altruistic when it comes to the big
gifts, rather a symbiotic generosity that will hopefully be in all parties
best interest. It's best when both sides fully understand the transaction.

Perl modules are pretty small potatoes so I don't think hubris will help
as much as the sums of money will be not large enough to bicker over.

Besides, maybe companies giving money to module authors will get people to
version and document their modules before uploading them to CPAN. :) I'm a
dreamer.
