Really, what I meant was anything that

a) is not the pay-to-play model of certification
b) keeps others from imposing the pay-to-play model on us

I suppose I'm commiting the evil of thinking like Microsoft, but I'd
like to make sure no one develops a way to make Perl certification
a money-making scam along the lines of so many other certifications,
and the best way I see to be certain of that is to be there first.

In other words, cut off their air supply.

If someone can make money training people to pass a Perl certification
_that we agree makes sense_, then more power to 'em. However, I think
decoupling the certification authority from the training mechanism
is a must.
