Just to say it again, the comparison of an MCSE/CCNE/etc. to an
MD/PE/CPA/etc. if bogus because the professional societies do more
than hand out parchment.  As Kurt said, they manage a licensed
profession that cannot be practiced legally without the appropriate
set of blessings.

If a doctor were to put 1L of morphine in a saline drip, there's the
possibility of being sued for malpractice, gross neglect, etc.

Similar examples exist for CPAs, structural engineers, lawyers, etc.

Not getting the backups done isn't anywhere close to the same
level of importance.
