Tcl indeed wins big points there.  however, i don't need to do that in 
Perl.

let's all remember that Perl does not have to be the best at everything.
other languages have different strengths because they evolved from
different perspectives.  that's a good thing.  i'd rather a language pick
some things at which to excel than try to be the best at all things and
only be passable at them. :)
