But what is it, then? Is it some Valhalla of conception? Some Eden of perfection? A seventh heaven of accomplishment?

What about the borderline cases, those writers or painters or composers whose work is realllllly good, but ... well ... borderline? If it's not literature (i.e., art), is it just a detective story? just a singable song? a pretty picture?
