Why are you asking others for an answer? You raised the point to begin with when you wrote, "Would anyone care to offer some positive examples of sentimentality in any of the arts?"
I replied to you with the words you quote above. I said: "If you [meaning you] are looking for examples, you [still meaning you] must carefully and precisely describe what you [ditto] refer to as "sentimentality." Merely using it to designate strong feelings is not enough, as you [et aussi] point out. But, if you [guess who?] name a certain cluster or nexus of feelings as "sentimentality," then it's easier to identify exemplars of it."
So, if you're actually interested in the notion of how sentimentality is connected to the arts, then why don't you describe what you mean ("have in mind") by that term and give a few examples in art, and the all of us can respond.
