Does anyone here really propose that we try to avoid having certain feelings (i.e. sentimental ones) when experiencing something as art ?
Well --- maybe some of you do --- and that would be a good reason -- as far as I am concerned -- to set aside all concepts of art -- and just experience each thing for whatever entertainment/enjoyment/enlightenment each might provide. Though -- there does come a time when we have to decide what best represents our civilization -- things for which we should be proud -- that we should put in the premier public places and set up as exemplary for young people -- and then -- but only then -- would I pull out the dread word "sentimentality" and tag it onto things which feel are too small-weak-petty to deserve such recognition. ____________________________________________________________ Seek a medical assistant career?
