In your previous post you don't show my original message in full text. You write: "Pathological systems driven by greed, that keep people poorly educated and economically vulnerable are enemies of the people of all societies as well as the world. All people are equal in their need and are of value in what they contribute to the good of the whole- each according to their need from each according to their ability'. The large uneducated part of our society is not economically vulnerable. Look at the media. When two anchors on local tv station, a man and a woman, asked what is the largest, in size, country in the world, one answered Ukraine and other Africa. The quote you give from Marx and Lenin shows main mistake in their theoretical conclusions. Beside basic physiological needs all people are not equal or have equal value for society, except their rights for physical and psychological well being. Wrong understanding of social parts of Marxism on one side and non -progressive traditionalists on the other is the reason for problems in public and higher education. A state is a political association with effective sovereignty over a geographic area and its population. A state usually includes institutions that claim the authority to make the rules that govern the relationships between the people in that territory, though its status as a state often depends in part on being recognized by a number of other states as having internal and external sovereignty over its territory. Private property and private initiative, should be in the interest of the people of that Country. Pathological systems driven by greed, that keep people poorly educated and economically vulnerable are enemies of the people of all societies as well as the world. All people are equal in their need and are of value in what they contribute to the good of the whole- each according to their need from each according to their ability. Democracy does not punish someone because they do not have the capabilities of another - nor do they reward those who purely have more than others and the expense of the weak. As for the Fascist State it employs the mass- phobia that arises from the fear of poverty and instability. It is used to terrorize the populace so that they will trade their freedom for the promise of security, which is most often framed in spiritual terms ____________________________________________ Saul Ostrow | Visual Arts & Technologies Environment Chair, Sculpture Voice: 216-421-7927 | [email protected] | www.cia.edu<http://www.cia.edu/> The Cleveland Institute of Art | 11141 East Boulevard, Cleveland, OH 44106 ---------- Original Message ---------- From: Saul Ostrow <[email protected]> To: "[email protected]" <[email protected]> Subject: Re: Transgenerational and transcultural art [was Heidegger and Histo r ical Art] Date: Sat, 2 May 2009 01:25:26 -0400 Actually - what we have to fear in terms of Obama is fascism - The fascists oppose both international socialism and liberal capitalism, they claim to provide a realistic economic alternative that is neither laissez-faire capitalism nor socialist. They favor corporatism, believing that the existence of inequality and separate social classes is beneficial . Fascists argued that the state should play a key role in mediating relations between these classes. An inherent aspect of fascism is economic dirigisme, meaning an economy where the government exerts strong directive influence, and effectively controling production and allocating resources and profits. In general, fascist economies are based on private property and private initiative, but these are contingent the interest of the state - which functions as an autonomous - self-interested entity.
