We can certainly try.

But not only will that representation be quite different from any example of
actual sound, color, or form -- but it
will also may  be quite different for each of us.

Kivy goes to some length to argue that non-verbal sounds represent nothing -
and he will even suggest that this is why
they can "liberate" us from our heavy burdens of thinking about the world.

(he does not make the same claim about abstract painting - though I'm not sure
why)
