I know this is very hard for Miller to understand but subject matter is the name of the thing and the content is what it can symbolize. The cloud that looks like a whale may therefore symbolize a content -- always in some contextualized matrix -- that is not a whale. So if Miller thinks my interest in allusiveness is simply to conflate subject and content he is, boringly, mistaken.
