Perhaps. Mostly it’s just the electrical engineer who used to do board level designs wondering. Pretty much every chipset manufacture provides a reference design and coding examples for their products. When the chipsets are incorporated into end products the design doesn’t usually vary much from the reference. It’s not hard to identify the reference design in competing products.
