I have a couple of their rolling toolboxes in my home workshop. They are
actually really nice. I agree many tools are use once and throw away but they
have some decent stuff and have been getting better over time.

I like harbor freight for consumables. Cutoff wheels, gloves, that kind of
thing. Their "Hardy" brand vinyl dipped gloves were on sale for a dollar and I
got 6 pairs. They're great until the vinyl wears off.

I got a knockout punch for $30. Compare to Greenlee knockout punch for ~$200.
I don't care if it doesn't last quite as long because I don't punch that many
holes.

The key with harbor freight is to research research research. The internet has
made this a lot easier than it used to be.

There are some of their products which are as good as if not better than the
name brand products. They've also recently taken great pains to bring in good
quality products.

.... but.... lots of it is still cheap chinese crap. The hard part is knowing
which is which.

Ug. I have a moratorium against any HF stuff unless it is a one time use

I am sure some of it is OK but it has historically been pretty bad.

I'm not sure if this is really a recommendation, but:

I have a couple of the Harbor Freight toolboxes which have proven to be very
serviceable for my needs. They also are very highly regarded in the online
forums, unlike much of the other stuff HF sells.

I need a larger tool box for my shop. I have several nice Kennedy boxes but
they are not suitable for larger mechanics tools.
So looking for a nice used box. Snap On, MAC, Mattco etc.

In Utah, we have KSL classifieds. Generally bargains can be found there. So I
did some data entry. I also checked Ebay.

I found that nice high quality tool boxes run from 2 cents to 12 cents per
cubic inch.
Ebay is higher than KSL.

Matco was about at the top for price, Mac and Cornwall were in the middle, Pro
Series (they claim to be a Snap On competitor) were at the bottom.

Snap Ons were scattered through the whole spread sheet. I currently have 21
entries.
Lowest cost is $990 Highest $8000

I did not include Husky or any of the bargain brands.
