It's not really a wifi /mesh /is it?  I presumed in 2018 people would learn from past failures that they need a backbone network of some sort.

I think the point of a franchise agreement is the operator gets exclusive access to the town's ROW and the town gets a fat check every year.  There won't be an issue of exclusivity for a wifi mesh because nobody else will want to do that.  In any case, I don't think anybody except CATV does franchise agreements.  Some town told us we needed one to put up wireless equipment on poles and we told them they were crazy and to shove off.  Never heard about it again.

Is there a way to find out if a franchise arrangement is in the works? I couldnt see pole attachment distributed mesh "muniwifi" being feasible without it. is that something that has to go through a formal process or, is a signature all that is needed?

Just remember, when you come to Central NY you have to
bring a .30-06, an F150, and a banjo if you want to be
            taken seriously.

AFAIK, the sales team from Cambium is picking the
locations....at least that's what I garnered from Sergiu
who picked Frankfort KY.  He just thought it was central
            to other WISPs.

fees recently, but there was no detail on who's

                happen here)

I'm not accusing cambium of anything. I'm just curious.

I hate living in a corrupt town. Those big city
democrats have nothing on small town republicans
when it comes to fleecing the population.
