The last time I counted, my network touched 23 other fixed wireless\microwave
ISPs.

So is this good, bad, or meh?

Honestly, I didn’t realize Frontier was eligible for CAF money by me, much less
that they passed it up.

I mean, it’s not like we don’t already compete with 2-3 other WISPs throughout
our service area. But if they start offering/claiming 100 Mbps speeds for $50,
that’s gonna peel off some customers. If the offered speed is 25 Mbps, then
it’s going to depend on how cheap they’re willing to price it to gain market
share. If you’re getting subsidies based on deployment not subscription, then
it’s not so crucial that you steal all the customers away from the existing
WISPs. Eventually you need market share though.

Watchcomm must be the subsidy of Benton Ridge Telephone Co, if you google
Benton they do have links to watchcomm.

OK, different colors, have to click on a tract to see the bidder. I see a lot
of AMG Technology Investment Group LLC, no idea who that is. And I see Benton
Ridge Telephone Co. in our area. I can't find Watchcomm though in your Illinois
file. Are they under an alternative name?

All of those areas have been awarded to the entity mentioned. Note there are
multiple layers, one for each company that won funds in a given state.

Mike, are those areas where the incumbent passed up CAF money, or are you
saying Watchcomm was awarded money for all those areas in the auction?

They're a customer of mine in Indianapolis.

They've been offering to buy WISPs in areas they won CAF funds. I think they'll
be partnering with neighboring WISPs where they can't buy them.

Has anyone run into these guys? https://watchcomm.net We've heard a
rumor that they're going to be moving into Illinois backed by CAF
money. Their website isn't giving us any reason for pause, their
"Legacy network" highest plan is only 25mb/s. Looks like they're doing
TV just with DISH installs.
