About all you could do is make sure you have a legal claim if he manages to sell the business for cash. Even so, he could probably sell the “assets” including the customer list, and then declare bankruptcy, either for the business or personal depending on how it’s organized. You definitely need to have one line of thinking that goes kiss what he owes me goodbye, I’m not getting it, now as a businessman (not a friend) how do I optimize my situation going forward.
