Akamai is scaling back their cache nodes into larger deployments. Too
many cattle to manage effectively.
For a while they were trying to get closer to the end users, now it
seems to be going the other way to the small number of big locations
model.
I think for the most part that makes sense in today's world. Instead of
caching servers look for transport to a big IX. Then instead of being
zero hops from Akamai or Netflix you can be one hop from everybody.
