Exactly, you need to factor in DOD and life cycles for LiFePo4 to win
but when you do it can win by a lot, specially if you don't need to
consider charging below freezing and so don't need a heat source. With
batteries of 200Ah at 12v going for $900 with a usable capacity in deep
discharge without damage performing twice an AGM and no acid, it quickly
becomes a real solution.

In our consideration of chemistries they are identical in price
considering DOD, once you factor in total life/cycles the sla
batteries start to look very expensive.

Technically, a lithium battery (pretty much all types of lithium
batteries) have a higher storage capacity than SLA batteries of "the
same size". For example, a 12V 100AH SLA battery only has ~~ 600
watt-hours of usable power, while a 12V 100AH lithium battery is
closer
to 1000 watt-hours of power. Not twice as much, but approximately
60% more.
