Im.not complaining, I prefer the store, but if you're accustomed to var doing all that stuff there is a curve, especially if theres an issue with a path. I call a var, I say I need a link from x coordinate to y coordinate, router port to router port. I get back a quote. I approve the quote. I wait for my gear. 2 calls or emails.
The difference is I have to wait on the VAR. The quote is only good for a period. With self serve it's nice, run a path in their tool, meet my 9s, export it and send it to commsearch. When they submit it I can order at whim, including at 3am. I really like that. But it does take more steps. I missed a detail on a copolar link, didnt realize at the time I needed a coupler radio, not an OMT. Went to prep the install and couldnt configure both channels. Got angry and took it out on aviat. Ultimately I had to submit an FCC modification since the model number changed, that's somewhat pricey. Difference here is the cost was all on me, through a VAR they would have eaten the FCC cost. But the price difference with VAR markup would have cost me more than the self service and the self correction. This was a cluster because it wasnt a standard sub band so the new equipment had to actually be built to order. These are just some of the things that can happen without a VAR. I really love the preterm fiber options though.
