Sometimes I wonder what it was about fascism that appealed to people in the 1920's-1930's. At one time there were even fascists in the USA who were taken seriously. My best guess is that it was the promise of cultural unity, and maybe people had to see it in action to realize that keeping that promise required forcibly stamping out anything else.
