Someone ask if our existing networked PTZ Cameras can take an Audio in feed via 3.5mm.  It looks like they can, so I think I'm going to try that, and see how the audio quality is just via the cameras web browser at the remote location.  That might be good enough for what we need.  It's just hard to mix a band/vocal balance while you're in the room with the band and their monitors.

Why not just get a simple audio interface? I have one of these, and it's less than $70 on Sweetwater right now. It’s got the 2 XLR inputs, and it connects to the computer via USB.

Subject: [AFMUG] OT: Pro audio question

I know lots of you guys dabble in the world of music and stagecraft.  So I thought I'd ask, as sometimes knowing the right word to search for is all the help.

I'm trying to come up with a solution to get a mix from a soundboard (2x XLR output for stereo) to a remote location in the building for out of room mixing for the web stream.  Pulling a cable would be about 400' and very difficult run.  I already have 1G network between the 2 locations, and the board itself is already on the network.  Is there a simple way to get the high quality XLR mix onto the network so I can listen to it somewhere else?  Ideally a plug and play solution that anyone can use, I don't really want to have to maintain encoding software on a PC.
