Government has become too comfortable handing out the milk. Eventually, people
forget how to feed themselves.
Even in the animal kingdom, parents know there comes a time when their young
have to leave the nest and learn to survive on their own. Yet today, some
businesses are built with the expectation that government funding will always
be there to sustain them.
Strong businesses should compete, innovate, adapt, and succeed on their own
merits—not rely on an endless cycle of subsidies. Assistance may have its place
in limited circumstances, but it should never become the business model. I for
one don’t agree with it.

Subject: [AFMUG] how to stay optimistic

I see all sorts of seminars giving business advice for ISPs but none seem to
address “how not to get discouraged” or “how to stay upbeat when talking to
customers these days”.

Even if you’re selling shiny new FTTH, it seems that government subsidized
fiber, 5G Home Internet, and LEO satellite are all trying to put us out of
business. This seems like a business for young people with “irrational
exuberance”.

Does anyone else sometimes feel like the scene in Independence Day?

Q: What is it you want us to do?

A: Die.
