I would however believe Elon read the book and was influenced by it.

Maybe.  But Maye Musk has posted “My grandfather, John Elon Haldeman, was born in Richmond, Illinois, in 1871.”  So maybe it’s a family name.

There is a sci-fi story with Elon as the protagonist.  It was a Mars based story.  He was named after that character.

Well, Elon’s clearly an alien.

You’ve seen 3rd Rock from the Sun?  Men in Black?  The Coneheads?  Mork & Mindy?  My Favorite Martian?  He has the social skills of Dan Akroyd as Beldar.

Why do you think he’s so obsessed with transport to Mars?

So the monster is Elon or BEAD?

Or are the WISPS the monsters?

I see all sorts of seminars giving business advice for ISPs but none seem to address “how not to get discouraged” or “how to stay upbeat when talking to customers these days”.

Even if you’re selling shiny new FTTH, it seems that government subsidized fiber, 5G Home Internet, and LEO satellite are all trying to put us out of business.  This seems like a business for young people with “irrational exuberance”.

Does anyone else sometimes feel like the scene in Independence Day?

Q:  What is it you want us to do?

A:  Die.
