I don't know how long the products were in development before the
proposal to open the lower band was finalized. Maybe UBNT will comment
on this?

Surely Ubnt and Cambium, among many others, saw that as a possible
usable band before it was actually legal to operate in. They have two
AF5 units already - an upper band for other countries I assume and a
mid range one that doesn't seem to be any different in the US (unless
your DFS shots are super close).

It was in development before that was opened up... required a

I would suspect we would see something soon. There's also been
talk of getting 4.9 cert on the AF5 and an AFX type product, but I
don't know what's come of that yet.

Why not try the 5.1 band? Oh wait...this brand new $2k product
can't do the best part of the 5 GHz band...

Yeah our 14 mile link was almost too crowded in 5.7 and DFS
was way under power. We eeked by though with 200FDX. I'm
thinking of swapping that link out for an Airfiber X5 link. I
need to run the numbers to see what I could get there first
though.

Not usable for this application. Looking forward to
testing it for a shorter link in a less congested area.
We should have been on a licensed link a long time ago…
At least we are going that way now.
